RESUMO

Although various cases of inappropriate use of anonymous news sources have shaken journalistic practice in the past and encouraged media organizations to act and tighten editorial policies, they remain at the center of journalistic practice. In times of rising demands from media consumers for increased transparency in media content and journalism grounded on ethical principles, the issue of anonymous sources presents an important stage. In our study, we conducted content analysis on four Slovenian daily newspapers which held the largest readership share, during the period from October 1 to December 31, 2021, to explore the extent of the use of anonymous sources of information and how they are employed. In addition, we analyzed the relationship between the use of anonymous sources and various topics of the news stories, the type and sentiment of information. It was found that information from anonymous sources is often of a primary type and neutral in sentiment. According to our research, the sentiment of anonymous information is not related to the content. The connection between the topic of the news story and the type of anonymous information was recognized in the case of reporting on the public sector. Furthermore, articles contained minimal specific descriptions about the sources, providing very limited information about their use. Our study revealed an exceptionally low share of provided explanation on the approval of anonymity for media consumers with very general and generic reasons.

RESUMO

This article analyzes 40 years of Black feminist scholarship, art, and grassroots activism dedicated to the lives and legacies of the "foremothers of American gynecology." Infamously, in Montgomery, Alabama, between 1845 and 1849, up to 16 enslaved women were exploited at a backyard hospital, some subjected to surgical experimentation by Dr James Marion Sims. He was a famous and world-renowned surgeon who died in 1883, with a reputation as "the father of modern gynecology." Sims achieved the medical knowledge that catapulted him into American and European fame, using skills gained from the exploitation of the enslaved women in his early career. Famously, three of these women are referenced by their first names: Anarcha, Lucy, and Betsey. This research asks: how have these important figures been remembered in 20th and 21st-century Black feminist scholarship, art, and grassroots community activism? Further, what are the broader impacts of this pathbreaking truth, reckoning, and reconciliation work?

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Xylaria species growing on fallen leaves and petioles have not been treated systematically. One source of confusion in this group of Xylaria species has stemmed from X. filiformis, which is an ancient name published in 1805 as Sphaeria filiformis and has commonly labeled on specimen packets that contain leaf- and petiole-inhabiting Xylaria species. Here we clarified the identity of X. filiformis and distinguish it from the species that are easily confused with it, notably X. simplicissima, to which most specimens labeled as X. filiformis are referred. Our research also led us to encounter many other leaf- and petiole-inhabiting Xylaria species, prompting a comprehensive study of this group of fungi. RESULTS: Forty-five foliicolous and caulicolous species of Xylaria were studied, including nine newly described species-X. allima, X. appendiculatoides, X. hispidipes, X. minuscula, X. neblinensis, X. spiculaticlavata, X. vermiformis, X. vittatipiliformis, and X. vittiformis; three unnamed species-X. sp. AR1741, X. sp. GS7461A, and X. sp. GS7461B; X. simplicissima, a name newly combined with Xylaria from Rhizomorpha simplicissima; and X. noduliformis and X. imminuta, which are two new replacement names, respectively, for X. maitlandii var. nuda and X. hypsipoda var. microspora. The 45 taxa can be classified into three groups by stromatal shape and conspicuousness of perithecial mounds on the stromatal surface: (i) the X. filiformis group contains 10 species, (ii) the X. phyllocharis group contains 19 species, and (iii) the X. heloidea group contains 16 species. One of the newly described or unnamed species belongs to the X. filiformis group-X. vermiformis; nine of them belong to the X. phyllocharis group-X. allima, X. appendiculatoides, Xylaria minuscula, X. neblinensis, X. sp. AR1741, X. sp. GS7461B, X. spiculaticlavata, X. vittatipiliformis, and X. vittiformis; and three of them belong to the X. heloidea group-X. hispidipes, X. imminuta, and X. sp. GS7461A. CONCLUSION: The 45 species of Xylaria associated with fallen leaves and petioles can be identified by using the dichotomous identification key that we provided herein. It is important to note that most of the studied species are represented by only one or several specimens and many have not been recollected and cultured.

RESUMO

This study aims to develop a robust control for the quadrotor slung-load system that efficiently follows a reference trajectory. A fractional-order robust sliding mode control has been chosen to control the quadrotor's altitude, position, and attitude. An anti-swing controller was also installed to limit the swing angle of the suspended load. It was created via delayed feedback, in which the quadrotor's position reference trajectory is changed by the difference of the load angles within a specific delayed value. Designing an adaptive FOSMC would control the system when the system uncertainties do not know the bounds. Moreover, the control parameters and the anti-swing controller for the FOSMC can be obtained using some optimization techniques to increase the controllers' accuracy.

RESUMO

We examine a general wireless sensor network (WSN) model which incorporates a large number of sensors distributed over a large and complex geographical area. The study proposes solutions for a flexible deployment, low cost and high reliability in a wireless sensor network. To achieve these aims, we propose the application of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) as a flying relay to receive and forward signals that employ nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) for a high spectral sharing efficiency. To obtain an optimal number of subclusters and optimal UAV positioning, we apply a sensor clustering method based on K-means unsupervised machine learning in combination with the gap statistic method. The study proposes an algorithm to optimize the trajectory of the UAV, i.e., the centroid-to-next-nearest-centroid (CNNC) path. Because a subcluster containing multiple sensors produces cochannel interference which affects the signal decoding performance at the UAV, we propose a diagonal matrix as a phase-shift framework at the UAV to separate and decode the messages received from the sensors. The study examines the outage probability performance of an individual WSN and provides results based on Monte Carlo simulations and analyses. The investigated results verified the benefits of the K-means algorithm in deploying the WSN.

RESUMO

A taxonomic revision of the hitherto monotypic genus Blumeria was conducted incorporating multi-gene sequence analyses, host preference data and morphological criteria. The sequenced loci included rDNA ITS, partial chitin synthase gene (CHS1), as well as fragments of two unnamed orthologous genes (Bgt-1929, Bgt-4572). The combined evidence led to a reassessment and a new neotypification of B. graminiss. str. (emend.), and the description of seven additional species, viz. B. americana sp. nov. (mainly on hosts of the Triticeae), B. avenae sp. nov. (on Avena spp.), B. bromi-cathartici sp. nov. (on Bromus catharticus), B. bulbigera comb. nov. (on Bromus spp.), B. dactylidis sp. nov. (on Dactylis glomerata as the main host, but also on various other hosts), B. graminicola sp. nov. (on Poa spp. as principal hosts, but also on various other hosts), and B. hordei sp. nov. (on Hordeum spp.). Synonyms were assessed, some were lectotypified, and questionable names previously associated with powdery mildew on monocots were discussed although their identities remained unresolved. Keys to the described species were developed.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The study was undertaken to make a qualitative and quantitative assessment of unnamed foramen and tunnels in adult human scapulae with aid of plain and contrast radiographs. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 120 dry bones, 60 each of the right and the left side were included in the study. Distribution of these foramina and tunnels was noted for their number, side, location, course and communication. Their morphometry was done using Vernier's caliper. RESULTS: Incidence of scapular foramina was 7.5% (R > L), whereas scapular tunnels were seen in 15.8% cases. Incidence of the sinuous, curved, and straight tunnels was found to be 50, 39, and 10.7% respectively. Left-sided tunnels were longer than the right ones. Plain and contrast radiographs were taken to confirm the findings. CONCLUSION: Anatomy literature describes only two scapular foramina, namely, nutrient foramen and suprascapular foramen/notch in a great zeal; occurrence of such anonymous foramina is hardly discussed. Through this study, there is an endeavor towards unfolding the mystery of scapular foramina in terms of their morphometry and distribution, the knowledge of which will aid clinicians, forensic experts, and surgeons in better diagnosis and management of clinical cases.

RESUMO

Anteromedial thigh (AMT) flaps based on lateral circumflex femoral artery (LCFA) have characteristics which make them favourable for use in reconstruction of extensive thigh, head, neck and leg defects. AMT flap which is elevated on the artery has the advantages of low donor site morbidity and preservation of main arteries. Due to inconstant anatomy of the pedicle, the flap is mostly not preferable. Hence, we aimed to describe the anatomical features of the unnamed branch of the descending branch of the LCFA harvesting AMT flap. For this purpose, the external iliac artery was displayed bilaterally on 15 adult (13 males and 2 females; age range 55-82 years) preserved cadavers using latex injection. The perforator branch of the descending branch from the LCFA was microdissected under 4× loupe magnification. The perforator branch was located 28.53 (20.20-34.20) cm distal to the anterior superior iliac spine, 22.12 (13.40-28.00) cm distal to the pubic tubercle, and 13.20 (10.80-16.20) cm proximal to the interepicondylar line. At the level of origin point the mean diameter of the perforating branch was 0.17 cm and the mean diameter of its cutaneous branch was 0.14 cm. The mean length of the pedicle was 5.71 (3.70-9.00) cm. We conclude that our findings contribute to the literature in terms of anatomical knowledge for surgical safety.

In this research we intend to analyze the eye squize and the looking in the painting from the Lacanian reading of the Visible and the invisible, by Merleau-Ponty. On one hand, the seeing act apprehends the objects from the cultural world and overtakes it; on the other hand, there's the view from what has been shown to the observer, disarranging his perceptual field. This uninvolved vision, this look that perceives and enchants us is conceived by Lacan as the Royal Registry and described by Merleau-Ponty as a "Foreigner eye". This "Foreigner eye" come to surprise the painter (and the spectator), sprouting from the invisible horizon background, being inexhaustible, inscribing itself continuously, and producing wishes and inciting the artist to pursuit new creations. In this regard, this paper is aimed to investigate Lacan's reading from Merleau-Ponty in XI Seminar, the looking as strangeness from the text Visible and the Invisible, and the implications in the "unnamed visibility" that inhabits the work of art.

We investigate the consequences in Lacan's work considering the pluralization of the Name of the Father from the formulation of the concept of Lacanian Name of the Father in his text of 1953 The function and field of speech and language, while symbolic instance entered in the Other's field and anchorage of subjective identification, i.e., from the issue that was introduced by Lacan in the Name of the Father, 1963, until we get to his development of the concept of Taoist Nameless present in his 20th Seminar of 1972/73 and the RSI Seminar of 1974-75, referring paradoxically, lack-to-Be, S (Ⱥ), lack of significant in the field of the Other, as a subject foundation. From this perspective, we try to indicate the displacement of the prevalence of symbolic register to the reference of the theory of knots, through a new definition of Real, discussing its implications for psychoanalytic treatment and for the insertion of psychoanalysis in culture.
